FREDRIK RYDMAN’S NUTCRACKER RELOADED
A little girl, Clara, is left on her own, destined to live at a garbage dump, while her parents are begging on the streets of a wealthy country far away.
The original story being retold by Fredrik Rydman brings us a handsome prince, filthy rats, spoiled candy figures, the nutcracker with RnB booming through his headphones, and an organ-dealer impeccably dressed in tuxedo at all times – searching for a young strong heart to sell to a sick old man. In a last attempt at finding her parents, Clara is desperate to believe the tuxedo-clad man can help fulfil her dreams.
Breakin´, hip hop and ballet interspersed with stunning visual effects, to a score of original music and much-loved parts from Tchaikovsky’s score, tell this mad and remarkable tale, a story with a terrifying resemblance to our real world.
Nutcracker Reloaded is opened on 8 September 2016 at the Dansens Hus, Stockholm.

The Nutcracker Reloaded is best described as playful, imaginative and innovative, as well as contemporary, cool and powerful. Filled with humour and absurd situations, it is a surprising, laughter filled and touching roller coaster of an experience.
The original story provides the freedom to stretch the story and add other ingredients to it. The Nutcracker is reinvented as an American RnB singer, the Sugarplum Fairy as an insipid blogger con Instagram celebrity, with Dracula, Super-Mario and Darth Vader all making a special appearance.
All makes perfect sense in this story of an orphan’s struggle to reunite with her parents; mirroring the current situation in Europe and speaking to both young children and adults.
The show’s creative structure combines hip-hop with ballet performed to a mix of classical music by Tchaikovsky, hip-hop tunes and pop songs. This is all set on a dazzling stage featuring video designed amazing visual effect, this show sets a production standard above the genre as a whole.
