Winner of three Academy Awards® including Best Picture, Paramount Pictures’ The Godfatherhas been named the greatest film ever made by Empire Magazine, Entertainment Weekly andMetacritic. It is currently ranked at number two in IMDB’s list of the all-time greatest films.
The film’s iconic score was composed by Nino Rota and is acknowledged as one of the most recognizable film scores ever written. The Godfather soundtrack won a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition written specifically for a Motion Picture or for Television.
American conductor/producer Justin Freer and his alternate conductor Shih-Hung Young will bring Rota’s unforgettable score to life. Freer gave his professional conducting debut at age 16, and was mentored by legendary composer/conductor Jerry Goldsmith.
Shih-Hung Young has Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music degrees from The Juilliard School and serves as a conductor for Howard Shore’s Academy Award-winning Lord of the Rings: Live to Projection & Lord of the Rings Symphony.
“That we are able to preserve and present some of the most cherished music in the history of our craft is both exhilarating and humbling,” said Freer. “There is little film music as instantly recognizable as Nino Rota’s opening music played on trumpet, and only a handful of films as masterfully made as The Godfather. The marriage of these two masterpieces on stage live will be something to remember.”
