The cooperation with Ennio Morricone, which began in 2012 and the phenomenal success that followed, saw a shift in the company’s focus to film music as a genre. In recent years GEA has produced and still produces touring live screenings with orchestra and choirs of major motion pictures such as The Godfather, Titanic, La La Land (Germany), The Hunger Games and Paddington.
In November and December 2017 GEA produced the first ever concert tour of Hollywood composer James Newton Howard, which opened at London’s Royal Albert Hall and toured 15 European.
Outside the realm of film music, in 2017 and 2018 GEA partnered with Graceland and Sony Music Entertainment on producing Elvis Live on Screen with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, a production that starred Elvis on screen synced with his master vocals and a live symphony orchestra. The tour was hosted live on stage by Priscilla Presley and spanned 20 arenas in 13 countries.
In 2019, GEA put together the first ever live tour of the legendary music producer and the pioneer of electronic dance music, Giorgio Moroder. At 78 years young of age the multi Academy Award and Grammy Award-winning Moroder embarked on a 16-city European tour in April and May 2019. Ending the tour in style, Moroder performed at 4 festivals all over Europe in summer 2019, with a hugely successful finale at Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands. The tour production entitled A Celebration of the 80’s saw the Italian songwriter, producer and DJ perform the highlights from his prolific career in a spectacular stage show with dazzling visuals and lighting alongside his band and vocalists.
2020 and 2021 will see a new touring multimedia spectacular with Our Planet Live in Concert. Specially developed by the series producers Silverback Films, and Oscar®-winning composer Steven Price, Our Planet Live in Concert includes new on-screen narration by legendary broadcaster, David Attenborough. Blending the outstanding natural world visuals of the Emmy Award®-winning Netflix series with creative innovations in live production, this concert will be a live spectacle like no other. Accompanied by a 66-piece orchestra and live vocalist, three giant screens will present the incredible cinematography of Our Planet on a scale that has never been seen before, allowing audiences to be fully immersed into the wonders of the Earth’s wildlife and their habitats.
